Welcome to our blog! We are a leadership group that attends George I. Sanchez High School in Houston, Texas. Our group is striving to make a difference in our school and community. It's a big job but we are ready to take on the challenge. We have ten months to conduct a community needs assessment, take action, and present our findings in Washington D.C. at the NCLR 2012 Congreso! Follow us through this wild adventure as we make a better tomorrow for our school and community!

2012 George I. Sanchez Youth Leadership Committee Congreso

AAMA and George I. Sanchez Youth Leadership Committee Congreso was held on Monday, February 6th at the University of Houston. Sanchez Charter School was awarded the NCLR Líderes Grant which offered our students an opportunity to convene our NCLR affiliate school students in a discussion on current youth issues. Students received the opportunity to dialogue with professionals in the community who conducted breakout sessions that included topics related to legal issues, financial aid and law enforcement.

Youth Leadership Volunteer Projects!



Our first volunteer project is with our school's Pre-K students. We enjoy reading stories to them in English and Spanish and interacting with them on the playground. We had a blast and look forward to working with these students again! Next project: Houston Food Bank!
